Conservation and The Wall

I try to stay away from political topics, but this one is glaring and scary. In the United States at this time we have no power base that is protecting our lands, our water, our wildlife, even our people, from pollution, habitat loss, climate change, or any other human-created catastrophe. This lack of concern started at the very top of our government and has trickled down through people committing hate crimes in record numbers. Finding Birds on YouTube

I’m not so narrow minded as to believe my bird club is the only one in existence. In fact, San Diego County is home to a handful of other clubs, mostly specialties like parakeets and canaries. And north of us, in the Los Angeles and Orange county areas, there are active clubs that used to send us newsletters before everyone went digital. Way up in the San Francisco area there are groups that put on a nice bird mart every year, who haven’t been hampered by the virulent Newcastle Disease (vND) outbreak. A Day in the Life of Cape Doves

I used to be so happy with my pair of ringneck doves. They laid fertile eggs all the time and weren’t too upset if I pulled the eggs. I missed once and they hatched out a beautiful pair of chicks. Doves always lay one male and one female egg. That doesn’t make it easy to sex them, however. Anyway, I lost the male and was given another that turned out to be female. Parrot Romance

Living with parrots sometimes means that you become their ideal mate. With no other beings to choose from, they choose you, regardless of your gender or theirs. You now have to be more careful than usual to avoid giving stimulating caresses, not allowing mating behavior like regurgitating and tail swishing.
