Saving Our Planet

Relax, we have at least 9 Years to prevent a global catastrophe. And China is causing more damage than we are, why don’t we let them find the cure? That’s like thinking your neighbor’s house fire is only their responsibility to put out. So what if your fence and trees have caught fire. Friends, if you believe in Climate Change or not, there is no question that parts of the world at coasts and rivers are sinking fast. That sever weather patterns are becoming more common and more drastic. That we are losing polar ice and endangering some amazing creatures. We have to be the cure.

The Cage That Wouldn’t Go Away

There’s a very cute tiny cage that costs very little which is too small to house any bird for more than a few hours. I don’t remember, years ago, if I bought one or received it with birds in it. Fair enough to say that most bird people use them as carriers and gladly leave them with the person receiving the birds. Let’s assume I won some birds and they were in the Little Blue Cage.

Fall in Love with Amazon Parrots

Long ago, I told everyone that I would never have a cockatoo or an Amazon. Cockatoos were off my list because of their emotional problems. And Amazons because they were bitey and evil and mean. Or so I had heard. Imagine my surprise when a friend got into my compact car with a Double Yellow Amazon parrot on his shoulder. He brought a carrier in case the bird needed to be contained at the meeting we were going to attend, but while we waited for yet another person to get in the car, the bird climbed onto the steering wheel in front of me and sang and danced his little heart out.

Lives that Come and Go

I have a friend who is horrified that I lose so many birds in so many ways through the years. She is especially bothered by the rodents who randomly kill my quail. And I understand that a person like her could not tolerate losing such precious creatures as Scooter or Aurora the cape dove. There are days ahead that I know will be close to unbearable. Losing any of the grays or Maynard will l likely incapacitate me for some time. But the love and joy I get from these sweet babies makes me forget the pain most of the time.
