Do you know what’s happening in the United States Senate these days? What do you think of when you hear or read “Animal Rights?” How about “Animal Welfare?” I had never heard of the Lacey Act, passed into law in 1900, the first law to protect wildlife in the US.

Doves in Love

Years ago, a friend of mine found an injured white dove near her house, and took the bird to a vet. When the dove was well again, my friend and her husband took her to Project Wildlife. There, they found out she was not a wild native species. The rescue organization couldn’t take her, but they advised against setting her free. She had become too dependent on people to feed her.

Cage Redemption

In October of 2021, I posted about losing many birds to rodents in two cages. I couldn’t figure out how the rats were getting in the two flight cages. I clipped the doors closed and there were no holes or other ways for them to get in. Or so I thought. I did know that the doors on the safety room side had sliding doors set into them, and that was the most likely way the rats got in.
